I have watched as ordinary people react to this, wondering how far they could be pushed without pushing back. In 2019, the death rate from the flu was about 28,000 in the USA. My gut feeling is that the death rate from covid is somewhat higher than an average flu season, i.e., this entire episode was a bad flu, possibly a very bad flu. Many, many people died 'with' covid.
Back in 2021, I heard a medical professional say: 'if the deaths from H1N1 (around 2009) were counted in the same way as covid deaths, H1N1 deaths would have been higher'.
As Mr. Fons before me already stated, aside from everything else, many people probably died from the wrong medical care, i.e., medical errors. Even outside of covid, this is a sizeable number.

In the placebo group, there were 169 cases of covid out of about 18,000. Of those, 162 were asymptomatic, i.e., only 7 people showed ANY symptoms, of those something like 3 were very sick, no one died.
I remember emailing Doug Ford with this information and asking 'why are we in lockdown?'.
Give those numbers some consideration when thinking about how many people actually died of covid.
Also, how many deaths were due to negligent or inadequate medical care, like the deaths of people who were put on ventilators, given remdesivir, or not given any form of early treatment?
It was criminal medical treatment. They deliberately put people on vents because they got big money to do so. Coffee & Covid stack write about this today. It was deliberate.

i would wager that the over estimate is even greater. a lot of people who did die ostensibly of covid were probably killed by poor hospital treatment, like my best friend, on a ventilator. i would listen to Cuomo repeat everyday that the ventilators themselves had an 80 - 90% death rate which wasn't very comforting to hear during the two weeks that my friend was on one.
i guess we'll never be able to tease out those deaths but i'm quite certain that my friend would have had a better chance at survival had she stayed home with her oxygen tank. she was able to walk to the hospital. she wasn't feeling that bad. she really just wanted a covid test and neither her doctor nor the walk in clinic she tried had any. so she walked to Columbia Presbyterian and they took care of business.
